The basics of a weekend trip to Estado 29 with Mariners Church

When and Where
We meet at Mariners at 7am on Saturday morning and return around 4-6pm on Sunday. Border crossing and traffic delays make it hard to be exact on when we'll return.

Driving

We carpool and we make sure that each car has a person who knows how to get to Estado29 on their own and without directions.  You won't have to drive or take your own car.

One of the vistors' dorm rooms showing bunk-bedsSleeping

There are dormitories at the orphanage with bunk beds and mattresses so you only need a sleeping bag and pillow. The dorms are very clean and have regular bathrooms.

Activities

During the day there are a number of activities: crafts, basketball, a walk outside the orphanage, project, etc.   Details vary each month. In the evening we sometimes have a bonfire and toast marshmallows.

Special Donations
Please check with the trip leader about specific needs and things you'd like to bring to donate. Brand new clothing is often needed. Toys that can be shared, like balls, are also good. Cash is the best donation of all as there are always bills to be paid. It is not possible for us to carry large items or large quantities of items. We're always very tight on space in each car and essential items will receive packing priority.

If you'd like to donate to Estado 29, mail a check any time to Mariners Church and be sure to designate "Estado 29" on the memo line.
